From 23-25 September 2019, I attended the annual Australian Political Studies Association held at Flinders University in Adelaida. I presented my working paper, titled “Peace in the Age of the Anthropocene,” in which I argue that pursuing liberal peace can complement the actions needed for humanity to survive in the age of the Anthropocene. The paper received the Pete Hay Early Career Researcher Prize for Environmental Politics and Policy, which includes feedback meeting with one of the judges to improve the paper for potential publication. It was exciting to receive encouraging comments from Matt McDonald of the University of Queensland, a leading scholar on climate politics.
