In Salvador Santino F. Regilme Jr. and Irene Hadiprayitno’s edited volume, Human Rights at Risk: Global Governance, American Power, and the Future of Dignity, I contributed a chapter that builds on an article I published in 2019 about the war on drugs in the Philippines and how its organized and targeted attacks are similar to the stages of genocide, as Gregory Stanton conceptualized, thereby arguing for a review of the relevance of legal boundaries of genocide to today’s widespread violence.
